I drove to Joshua Tree the night this land came up for sale and slept in my car under the stars. When the sun rose rose over the mountainside, I knew it was meant to be. That was 2019. We have been working on this non-stop ever since.

Kristi is an interior designer (Jooj Projects) who has styled out vacation homes in Joshua Tree, Idyllwild, Encinitas and more.  We make a great husband and wife team.

Halcyon Hideaway is influenced by a lifetime of backpacking trips to remote locations & one mind-blowing visit to a Scandinavian spa.

Backpacking:   Most people have "car camped"  in a campground but many have never put their tent and all their food on their back and hiked into the woods for a few days.    Truly getting away from it all, including other people, is the best way to block out all of the distractions of city life in order to reconnect with nature and yourself.  Halcyon Hideaway was built with the intention to provide similar benefits of backpacking in a remote setting but in a warm, luxurious & comfortable setting.

Scandinavian spas:   The benefits of saunas and ice baths have never been more talked about in the US.   The practice of alternating between hot and cold is not new though.  Finnish people have known how beneficial a hot / cold / relax cycle is for health for hundreds of years.    One trip to a spa called Scandinave in Whistler made a huge impact on my life.  I've never felt better. Halcyon Hideaway is the perfect setting to explore this practice rooted in the Scandinavian tradition.  We have a giant custom sauna for 12 people, a state of the art the cold plunge and many other amenities to round out a private, day-spa experience.
